Hungarian men accused of trafficking women into the country for sexual exploitation have been remanded in custody.

Attila Kovacs, 32, of Highview Gardens in Southgate, and Peter Berki of Telford Road in Southgate, whose age remains unknown, were charged on January 31 following a police investigation targeting a criminal network forcing women into prostitution.

The men, who were arrested last month during early morning raids at their home addresses, face charges of conspiracy to traffic persons into and within the UK for sexual exploitation as well as conspiracy to control prostitution for gain over the last six years.

Vishal Chaudhary, 33, a UK national of Peninsula Square in Canary Wharf and Hungarian national Ibrahim Mosa, 31, of Mayes Road in Wood Green have also been charged with the same offences.

The investigation suggests some victims - many from Hungary - were told they could come to the UK to work as receptionists before being forced into prostitution.

The men appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday and were remanded in custody to appear at Southwark Crown Court on April 5.

A man from Barnet was arrested in Ilford yesterday on suspicion of conspiracy to traffic persons into and within the UK for sexual exploitation and controlling prostitution.
