An American author gave schoolchildren a sneak preview of his latest sci-fi novel which is set to be made into a film.
Rick Yancey, who has written 13 novels, visited Oasis Academy Enfield in Mollison Avenue to talk to children about The 5th Wave, the first book in his new trilogy.
John Iona, librarian at the school, said: “As he told the kids about the book they were really enthused and engaged.
“Many of them bought the book afterwards which Rick signed for them.”
Thirteen-year-old Vikita Devchand said: “The day was a unique experience that encouraged us to explore our imagination through reading and writing.”
Jesse Santeng, 13, added: “Meeting Rick Yancey was a great experience and has encouraged me to read a lot more.”
Children from Chace Community School, Palmers Green High School, Highlands School and Winchmore School were also invited to the event on Monday.
The 5th Wave is going to be made into a film for Sony Pictures.
