The Enfield Independent has called on every parliamentary candidate to give five reasons why they should become an MP next month.
David Schofield, candidate standing in Enfield Southgate for UKIP, has given her five reasons to vote for her on May 7.
A lifelong Enfield resident born at Chase Farm Hospital, I feel passionately about our community.
As an ex local councillor in our borough representing Southgate Green ward I engaged with residents, the police and Council officers to improve housing infrastructure, deal with crime and anti social behaviour problems and protect valuable conservation areas in my ward.
I will work tirelessly to secure much needed additional investment to improve our overstretched health and social care services in our borough. I will never concede the battle to restore lost hospital accident and emergency service capacity in our borough, a closure programme started by the last Labour Government and completed by the current Conservative Government.
Parents of children locally are rightly concerned about the pressure on both primary and secondary school places in the borough. I will demand urgent action to deliver these needed places as migrant numbers continue to increase.
The waste framework and Landfill directives from the European Union have placed impossible re cycling targets and this along with austerity budget cuts have led to Councils introducing alternate general waste and recycling collections. Many types of Council are using them as a stealth tax by implementing charges for collecting garden waste and bulky items. People pay their council tax; yet get more bins for recycling and less frequent service. I will resist any plans Enfield Council may have to introduce fortnightly refuse bin collections.
