Members of inclusive theatre Chickenshed, based in Enfield, are teaming up with TV host and singer Stacey Solomon to host a touring karaoke bus in “celebration” of this year’s release of American 3D computer-animated musical comedy film, SING.
The bus will first park at Westfield Shopping Centre, in White City, before embarking on a nationwide tour with further stops including Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester.
Visitors will have the opportunity to sing along to any of 42 tracks from the film, as well as be entered into the prize draw to win a private recording session and there may even be a chance to sing along with Stacey too.
Those who visit the bus will also have the opportunity to learn more about how Chickenshed uses the performing arts to help young people fulfil their potential.
Stacey rose to fame as a finalist on The X Factor in 2009 and won the tenth series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!
The 27-year-old says she is looking forward to meeting “budding musicians” on the tour.
She says: “From karaoke queens to wannabe pop stars, I can’t wait to meet everyone at the SING karaoke bus tour.
“My kids and I absolutely love the film and to collaborate on this wonderful campaign for such an amazing cause is just fantastic.
“I got my foot in the door through the music industry so I really can’t wait to meet budding musicians.”
Kevin Metchear, a spokesperson from Chickenshed added he feels “privileged” the inclusive theatre company is part of the campaign.
He says: “We are delighted to hop on board the SING karaoke bus tour to raise funds for our pioneering musical theatre charity. We hope that this campaign will bring children and young people one step closer to achieving their full potential while having a great deal of fun in the process.
“We are so privileged to be a part of this campaign and having Stacey Solomon launch the event with us is just perfect.
“Stacey is someone who knows just how uplifting, therapeutic and confidence building singing can be for young people.”
You can meet Stacey Solomon and members of Chickenshed on the Sing Karaoke Bus at Westfield Shopping Centre, in Ariel Way, White City, W12 7GF, on Sunday May 21, when the bus will be making a stop between 10am and 6pm.
