A car has been wrecked after it caught fire in the Holmesdale tunnel on the M25 this afternoon.
The car fire has caused heavy delays today, with the road having been shut between Junction 25 A10 Great Cambridge Road (Enfield) to Junction 26 A121 (Waltham Abbey) for over an hour whilst emergency services worked at the scene.
This caused gridlock, with queues having formed back as far as junction 23.
Whilst the closure has lifted, there are still queues as motorists are directed slowly past the incident.
Highways England is currently warning of 10-minute delays.
Video footage posted on Twitter shows the aftermath of the fire, with a car in the right-hand lane of the tunnel destroyed.
Highways England says that normal traffic conditions are expected to resume by 5pm.
