THE heartbroken ex-girlfriend of a soldier killed in an alleged terrorist attack in Northern Ireland is organising a war heroes fundraiser to honour his memory.

Louise Potter, 23, of Queen Anne's Grove, in Bush Hill Park, was left devastated when Sapper Patrick Azimkar was brutally gunned down as he collected pizza at his army barracks in 2009.

As part of coming to terms with Patrick's death, Louise is planning a charity jumble sale of carefully-chosen vintage clothes in November with all proceeds going to charity for Help for Heroes which provides support for Britain's current armed forces.

She came up with the idea after setting up a vintage clothing business with long-term friend multi-media graduate Sherri Lombardelli, 22, after the pair struggled to find long-term employment.

After scouring neighbours' lofts, charity shops in Southgate and Palmers Green, and jumble sales, the pair have already made a name selling their wares at London's most popular markets including Camden Lock, Portobello and Brick Lane.

Louise said: "We have always loved fashion but found that high street clothes are getting very expensive, all look the same and aren't made to the same quality as something vintage.

"We like to show people that you can bring old clothes back to life and still keep up with current trends. With vintage, you get things that are either really cheap or really overpriced but we like to keep it in a moderate price range that young women can afford."

They have now applied for grant funding from Bright Ideas Trust to help pay for a bus that will be converted into a vintage shop and used to tour festivals and universities.
