Enfield Town have expressed their disappointment after they were deducted three points by the Isthmian League, claiming no reasons for the deduction have been given.
The Football Association found the Towners guilty of fielding an ineligible player, Aryan Tajbakhsh, in two matches when he should have been suspended but it is the Isthmian League who issue sanctions.
It was announced on Wednesday Enfield would be deducted three points by the league, costing them their place in the Isthmian Premier Division play-offs, with Metropolitan Police taking their place.
A statement on the club website read:
"Enfield Town FC are extremely disappointed with the decision made by the Ryman League to remove three points from its playing record yesterday.
"No reasons for the league's decision were provided to the club and we await the league's written reasons.
"The club made a significant attempt to resolve this matter and appointed legal counsel to make its representations. These included several proposals, all falling within the Ryman League's powers, to bring to an end the uncertainty of play off arrangements.
"The club made it's firm view clear that footballing issues should be dealt with on the field of play and not in the courts. Unfortunately the decision of the league means the uncertainty continues. The board will consider next steps as soon as possible."
