A vibrant showcase of art in Southgate and Palmers Green will be held this weekend for the third year running.
More than 40 artists, designers and craftspeople will open their studios to the public for the Open Studios and Art Trail, so you can see firsthand where they work and talk to them about the creative process.
Local businesses will also be opening up their spaces and high street windows for the artists to show their work and there will be free workshops and demonstrations for all the family to enjoy.
Here is our pick of some of the best.
You’ll never look the same way at a bicycle again after seeing Clare Roel’s bike sculptures. She uses recycled parts and found objects to create pieces interpreting aspects of human experience. This range of work focuses on movement and renewal.
Helen Lee paints watercolours of London and local scenes using a line and wash technique. She will be taking individual commissions during the event.
Ben Rawlinson says of his handcrafted furniture: “I enjoy making flowing curves that produce subtle highlights and shapes that encourage tactile interaction.” He will be showingpieces from bespoke boxes to larger freestanding tables and cabinets.
Martin Payne works across a range of genres, including still life, landscapes, portraits, abstracts and montage, using watercolours and pastels/coloured pencils.
Basket-maker Kathryn Hollingsworth will surprise you with her non-traditional baskets. She mixes natural and recycled materials to create sculptural forms and containers and will be showing a range of recent work.
Mary Marmery's handbuilt ceramics are fired outside using primitive firing techniques to achieve designs that are painted in smoke. Her inspiration is drawn from Ancient Greek pottery and the natural world.
