The winner of Edmonton MP Andy Love’s Christmas card competition has been announced.
Ten-year-old Tanbir Chowdhury of Fleecefield Primary School impressed the politician with his striking Christmas images of a snowman, a wreath, a robin, a star and a tree complete with presents.
He was presented with an art set and a framed copy of his winning picture during a school assembly yesterday morning.
Mr Love said: “It was an absolute pleasure to meet Tanbir and it was great that his mum and whole school could share in his achievement in school assembly today.
“Fleecefield clearly has an artistic group of students as Tanbir’s classmate Ersilda had a fantastic design too and I picked her as one of my runners-up."
Tanbir’s design, which was selected last Friday by Mr Love and Enfield Independent reporter Hermione Wright, will now be used on the politician’s official Christmas card and sent to 2,500 people.
A total of 1,605 children from the borough sent Christmas card designs to the politician.
Three runners-up were selected and each of their designs will be printed on the back of the Christmas cards.
Each child will receive a certificate for taking part in the competition, which the politician has run every year since he was appointed in 1997.
The politician added: “As always we had a great response to the competition. The children clearly put a lot of effort in to their artwork so it makes my job of picking a winner extremely difficult.
“I’d like to extend a special thanks to all of the children and their teachers for taking part. Now I have to get down to the signing.”
