A new street lighting scheme being introduced in Enfield this year will save millions of pounds, according to the council.
The energy saving project is being run by Enfield Borough Council and will mean street lights across the borough will have a new energy management system installed.
It will mean lighting levels will be reduced slowly, therefore lowering the amount of electricity used.
The council has also said they will start putting streets lights on later in the evening and turning them off earlier in the mornings to make further savings.
It is hoped the system will save the authority up to £8million during the next 20 years through energy saving.
