A UKIP candidate who quit the party over messages posted on Twitter about comedian Lenny Henry will still appear on ballot papers next week.
William Henwood’s name will still appear on the ballot paper for the Enfield Council elections on Thursday, May 22, because his withdrawal from nominations was too late.
Mr Henwood said on social networking site Twitter that Lenny Henry should “emigrate to a black country”.
Enfield Borough Council told the Enfield Independent that Mr Hendwood can still be voted for and elected because he stood down after the withdrawal deadline of April 24.
