The Enfield Independent has asked each parliamentary candidate to list five reasons why they should become an MP at the General Election on May 7.

Here the Liberal Democrat candidate for Enfield North Cara Jenkinson explains why you should vote for her.

1) As a second generation immigrant I value the huge contribution immigrants have made to the economy and culture of London and I will always stand up against the politics of fear and intolerance
 
2) I have 20 years as an IT manager and know that the success of UK businesses depends on us having a strong voice in Europe
 
3) Liberal Democrats are the only party committing to raise NHS expenditure to £8 billion per year by 2020 and will spend £3.5 billion more on mental health during the next parliament
 
4) As a governor of a primary and a secondary school, I am proud that Liberal Democrats have enabled disadvantaged children in Enfield to do better at school through our pupil premium policy, and that we will be protecting the education budget from cradle to college
 
5) Liberal Democrats will address the acute housing shortage in Enfield by giving councils more financial flexibilities to build more affordable, energy efficient homes.
