An Enfield chef is cooking up a storm after making it to the finals of a national chef of the year competition.
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of Gordon Ramsey, David Burgum, of Enfield Town, is adding the finishing touches to his menu ahead of the semi-finals of the National Chef of the Year competition hosted by Craft Guild of Chefs’.
Wowing judged with his pasta starter, sea bass main and classic tart for dessert in the early rounds, the executive chef at catering group BaxterStorey, will now submit his menu this Wednesday when he competes at the Cordon Blue cookery school.
He said: “It is a privilege to compete in the semi finals this month and to make it to the final this year would be an honour. Having the opportunity to win National Chef of the Year is a dream come true.”
Noel Mahony, chief executive at BaxterStorey, added: “David is an incredible talent and his passion, skills and commitment to his work are truly inspiring. David deserves to be commended for his creativity and unwavering attention to detail, and we really do wish him every success in the competition.”
Previous winners include Gordon Ramsay, David Everitt-Matthias, Mark Sargeant, Steve Love, Simon Hulstone, Hrishikesh Desai and last year’s winner Russell Bateman.
