Opticians will offer “cracking good reads” when it holds a charity book and bake sale to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease.
Staff at Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care at Palace Gardens Shopping Centre in Enfield have donated books from home and collected titles from family and friends to sell in aid of Alzheimer’s Society on March 9.
There is also a colouring competition for children which will run until 26 April, with the £1 entry fee going to the charity.
Branch manager Nicola Firth said: “Alzheimer’s affects a growing number of people in our community and there is a real need for continued research and support.
“Our book sale is a chance for us to raise funds and awareness for a cause we care about.”
Scrivens is supporting Alzheimer’s Society for a fifth successive year because of a link between uncorrected hearing loss and dementia, including Alzheimer’s.
The partnership has raised nearly £85,000 to date.
