Enfield Council says more than 30 per cent of the homes on the first two phases of the Meridian Water scheme will be at London Affordable Rent levels.
The local authority stated that 372 out of 1,220 units on the initial phases of the £6 billion regeneration project will be at London Affordable Rents – which is 30.5 per cent.
It comes after a cross-party committee claimed only 26 per cent of the scheme would fall into this category of affordable housing, which is aimed at low-income households.
The council previously claimed the analysis made by the cross-party committee contains inaccuracies, adding that the “main beneficiaries of Meridian Water will be local people”.
