Footage has emerged of a car driving with its door open before smashing into a bus in Southgate's high street.
The video circulating online shows a black car heading in the direction of the BP garage with an open scissor door - which swings up vertically rather than opening outward.
The top of the door then clatters into the windscreen and advertising board of a stationary 125 bus on the opposite side of the road.
TfL's head of business development, Tom Cunnington, said: “We are aware of an incident involving a route 125 bus on Saturday in Southgate, and a video on social media of the incident that shows what happened from an onlooker’s perspective.
"It must have been a really nasty shock for the bus driver, who we wish well, and we are supporting the bus operator’s ongoing investigation.”
The collision happened in Chase Side at around 4.45pm on Saturday, August 14.
