A road improvement works programme and a package of crane works are set to cause disruption to motorists and residents in two areas of Enfield from next week.
Notices from Enfield Council in this week’s edition of the Enfield Independent details the extent of the temporary closures that will be needed in Oaktree Avenue, River Avenue, The Grove and The Rise while the highway improvement works are carried out.
Separately, crane works are due to begin in the Brimsdown Avenue area towards the middle of this month and these are due to continue until the end of this year.
Oaktree Avenue, between River Avenue and Green Lanes, is due to be closed from Wednesday, October 6 to October 8, and then from 8am to 6pm from October 26 to November 1.
The diversion during these closures will be via Green Lanes, Crestbrook Avenue and River Avenue.
The Grove, between Hazelwood Lane and Lodge Drive, is also set to be shut to motorists next week from 8am to 6pm on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Drivers are advised to use Hazelwood Lane, Riverway and Lodge Drive instead.
River Avenue, between Hedge Lane and Crestbrook Avenue, will be shut to vehicles from October 12 to October 15.
The alternative route at this time will be via Hedge Lane, Ash Grove, Barrowell Green, Green Lanes, Greenwood Gardens and River Avenue.
The final phase of this programme will involve the temporary closure of The Rise, between The Grove and Riverway.
This is set to be shut on October 8 and then from 8am to 6pm on October 26 to November 1.
The diversion during this closure will be via The Grove, Lodge Drive, Riverway and vice versa.
The crane works are also due to cause closures at various times, mainly in three different areas of Brimsdown Avenue.
The first part is between the junction with Bell Lane and Leys Road East and this will involve the closure of that section of Brimsdown Avenue on October 12 and 13; October 19 and 20; October 26; November 2; November 9; November 16 and 17; December 7 and 8; December 21 and 22; December 28 and 29.
The diversion during these times will be via Brimsdown Avenue, Croft Road, Redlands Road, Bell Lane and vice versa.
Brimsdown Avenue is also due to be shut, between its junction with Leys Road East and Croft Road, on October 27; November 23 and 24; December 14 and 15.
Traffic should use Croft Road, Redlands Road, Bell Lane, Brimsdown Avenue and vice versa at this time.
The third part of Brimsdown Avenue due to be closed is between its junction with Croft Road and Fouracres. This is due to take place on November 3 and November 30 to December 1.
The alternative route will be via Fouracres, Greenwood Avenue, The Brightside, Redlands Road, Croft Road and vice versa.
The crane works are also due to lead to the closure of Croft Road, between its junctions with Redlands Road and Brimsdown Avenue, on November 10 and 11.
Motorists will be diverted via Redlands Road, Bell Lane, Brimsdown Avenue, Croft Road and vice versa.
