Several Turkish restaurants in Haringey and surrounding areas have been nominated as one of the best in a new awards ceremony.
The restaurants are featuring in the first ever Turkish Restaurant and Takeaway Awards (TURTA), which will be held on February 21, 2023.
Hanedan Restaurant on Green Lanes, Haringey, is shortlisted as one of the best newcomer restaurants.
Doner Daddy Takeaway Kebab on High Road, Hornsey, is in the nominee list of best takeaways in London.
Three Harringay takeaways in Green Lanes are in the "north and west London" category - Antepliler Restaurant, Diyarbakir Kitchen and Gokyuzu.
Ada, in Silver Street in Enfield, is nominated as one of the "best value restaurants".
In the "chef of the year" category, Abuzer Ozkan of the Antepliler and Harun Boybeyir of the Aksular restaurant in Enfield are listed.
The majority of nominees in the supplier award were from the Enfield and Tottenham area, including: Eda Quality Foods Ltd, Holland Bazaar Unit 15A, VATAN 41 - Millmead Business Centre, Oz Baran Meat Unit 9r, Best Catering Leeside Industrial Estate, Capital Catering Equipment Limited 5 Wordsworth Parade.
The finalists are said to represent the best-in-class restaurant and takeaways awarded for their excellence, craft and great taste.
Musa Akan, spokesperson for the TURTA awards, said: "There are an ever-growing number of fantastic Turkish restaurants and takeaways in the UK, and this popular cuisine is only on the rise.
“It offers culinary delights that balance an indulgent night out with healthy choices using fresh, quality ingredients. The British Turkish eateries are a key part of the local community and it’s great to see so many entries this year. The past year has tested every business operating in the hospitality sector, getting to the finals is a real achievement and all outlets should be proud."
The awards will be held in the Jubilee Room of the House of Commons, hosted by Enfield North MP Feryal Clark.
