A man has been arrested after a woman was shot in Tottenham.

Emergency services rushed to the junction of West Green Road and Grove Park Road in Tottenham on Tuesday (December 27) after reports of a shooting in the early morning.

Officers attended with paramedics shortly after 6.28am but nobody with injuries was found.

The woman, 24, checked into a hospital at 6.50am without the assistance of the London Ambulance Service.

Metropolitan Police says a man, 25, was arrested on Wednesday (December 28) on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He currently remains in police custody.

Scotland Yard says the woman remains in hospital for treatment, but her condition is not considered life threatening.

The force believes a “significant" number of people were in the area as a party was taking place nearby at the time.

Police are keen to speak to witnesses or anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious.
