Two people have been treated for smoke inhalation after a blaze broke out in an end-of terrace house.
The fire, which occurred in the early hours of March 1, produced “thick smoke” and destroyed most of the ground floor and staircase of the house in Yorkshire Gardens, Edmonton.
Around 40 firefighters and six fire engines were called at 12.41am to tackle the blaze, which took almost two hours to extinguish.
A woman and a man left the house before the London Fire Brigade (LFB) arrived and were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Station Commander Mick Palmer, who was at the scene, said: “The fire started in a back room of the property and spread through the ground floor and stairs.
"Crews arrived to see thick smoke coming from the front of house and flames coming out of the back of the ground floor.”
Part of the first floor of the property and external scaffolding was also damaged by the fire.
Fire crews from Edmonton, Tottenham, Walthamstow and Stoke Newington fire stations attended the scene.
An LFB spokesperson said that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
