Residents in a block of flats had to be evacuated after a fire ripped through their building over the course of almost five hours.
It took 20 fire engines and around 125 firefighters to control the blaze in Newsholme Drive, Southgate, that broke out yesterday evening (July 2).
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to the fire in the three-storey building at 9.30pm.
A LFB spokesperson said that a “large number of residents” had to be evacuated from the building after the fire ripped through three loft flats.
Pictures from the scene showed clouds of smoke billowing from the building’s roof.
The fire took more than four hours to extinguish and was brought under control by firefighters, who used a 32 metre turntable ladder, at around 1.50am.
There were no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Fire crews from Southgate, Edmonton, Enfield, Tottenham, Hornsey, Finchley and surrounding stations all attended the incident.
