A school with a “nurturing environment” for its pupils has been praised by Ofsted inspectors.
The children at Southgate’s Walker Primary also showed “impressive behaviour” which has judged the school to be “outstanding” in attitudes and personal development.
The school in Waterfall Road received a “good” rating following the Ofsted inspection.
“Our school is a very special place to learn,” Walker School’s proud headteacher Raakhee Tailor said. “The inspectors recognised our vision through speaking with pupils and visiting lessons.”
The inspectors commented on the ambitious curriculum with its strong achievement, particularly in English, maths and science.
The report found “warmth, ambition, and a real sense of community with the highest expectations including pupils with special educational needs or disabilities”.
It added: “They enjoy coming to school every day — their behaviour is exemplary. Pupils of all ages play together in a joyful and considerate manner.”
The school was also praised for its approach to staff workload and teachers’ commitment to improving the curriculum.
