A 69-year-old man was found dead in his Enfield flat after he had not been seen for several weeks.
Police were called to Barnabas Court in Cheyne Walk on September 14 after concerns were raised for the man’s welfare.
The block in Grange Park for people aged over 45 is run by housing association Christian Action.
One tenant – who did not wish to be named – claimed that police were called after a neighbour noticed a bad smell.
Police have said that the death is currently being treated as “unexpected” and is under investigation.
They confirmed that it was reported that the man had not been seen “for a few weeks” before his body was discovered.
A police spokesperson said that a post mortem was inconclusive and that “further tests are required”. There have been no arrests and enquiries into the death continue.
Christian Action said that they were first notified of the death last Wednesday (September 27) and that staff visited the property that day.
A spokesperson for the housing association said: "We were advised by a neighbour that the police were involved and so we contacted them for an update, who advised the property is still subject to ongoing investigations so we are unable to access the property."
They added that they could not confirm any details about the date of death until police provided further information.
