Throughout the month of February, we’re telling the story of the 21 teenagers who were murdered in 2023. Our campaign, The 21, seeks to remember every victim as a young person with a family and their whole life ahead of them. We want to change the culture of kids carrying knives and becoming involved in violence.
This is the face of Taye Faik, a 16-year-old boy, who was stabbed to death near his home in Edmonton in 2023.
Name: Taye Faik
Age: 16
From: Edmonton
Here is everything we know so far about his death:
Taye Faik was stabbed to death on Sunday, October 1.
Officers were called to reports of a stabbing on Kendal Gardens at 11.27pm.
Despite the efforts of the emergency services, Taye died at the scene.
A post-mortem examination held three days later confirmed he died as a result of sharp force trauma to the chest.
Two men have been charged with his murder:
Josiah James Sempter, 18, of Cromie Close in Edmonton
Bernard Carroll, 21, of Church Street in Edmonton
A 16-year-old girl, who cannot be named, was arrested on November 3 and has also been charged with Taye’s murder.
Speaking to MyLondon, Taye’s uncle Altough Faik said: “He was a beautiful boy. We are devastated.
“He had a bright future ahead of him. He hasn’t been given the chance to flourish like he would have.
“He was always smiling and was a pleasure to be around. He managed to get to his house after being stabbed. These boys must lay down these knives.
“All I can imagine is the look on his face as he was stabbed. I keep playing it over and over in my mind.”
Newsquest London does not have information on any further developments on this case.
