An Enfield councillor has been suspended by the Labour Party.
Cllr Thomas Fawns, who was elected to represent Upper Edmonton in May 2022, is now listed as an independent councillor on Enfield Council's website.
The Labour Party did not disclose the reason for his suspension.
An Enfield Labour group spokesperson said: “Cllr Thomas Fawns is currently suspended by the national Labour Party whilst a matter is investigated, and, therefore, from Enfield Labour group.
“We cannot comment on ongoing, internal matters of the Labour Party.
"He is not standing for election as an independent candidate, he remains a councillor.
"No by-election has been triggered."
Cllr Fawns has been contacted.
