Police are still outside a cemetery in Enfield where the main suspect in the murder of three women in Bushey was found.
The area around Lavender Hill Cemetery became the centre of a police manhunt yesterday afternoon (July 10) after three women from the same family were found critically injured.
Carol Hunt, 61, wife of BBC 5 Live racing commentator John Hunt, and two of their daughters, Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, later died at the scene in Bushey.
Police quickly named Kyle Clifford, a 26-year-old man from Enfield, as a main suspect, and said they were searching for him in Hertfordshire and north London.
Officers warned that Clifford might be armed with a crossbow, and urged the public not to approach him.
In a press conference before Clifford was located, Chief Superintendent Jon Simpson from Hertfordshire Constabulary told reporters the 26-year-old was believed to have been known to the victims.
As armed police searched the area around Hilly Fields, schools across Enfield went into lockdown.
Headteacher of St Michael’s Primary School, Jade-Simone Bacon, confirmed to the Enfield Independent, that children at the school were being kept inside as a "precautionary measure".
She added that police conducted a reassurance visit and told them "that everything is fine and to carry on as normal".
Bright Horizons also confirmed that it placed two nurseries, one of which is believed to be in Hilly Fields, into lockdown.
Police also searched a home in Rendlesham Road, close to Gordon Hill station.
One neighbour said that the whole road was taped off, and armed police were going in and out of a home in the street.
Further searches of the house took place this morning (July 11), with police staff wearing gloves and face masks seen nearby.
Police further narrowed their search to Lavender Hill Cemetery yesterday afternoon, confirming that Clifford had been found with injuries.
He was rushed to hospital. Police said that no shots had been fired by officers and that no arrests had yet been made.
Police officers were still in position outside this cemetery this morning.
Officers stood outside the gates in Cedar Road and a cordon was in place along Cook’s Hole Road.
Members of the public not currently able to enter the cemetery.
