A popular nightclub has had its alcohol licence suspended after a woman was allegedly raped by a member of security staff.

Met Police said a woman was allegedly raped at Heaven nightclub in the early hours of Sunday, November 1.

Other staff then allegedly ignored her efforts to report the attack, the Met said.

A member of security staff has been arrested and charged with rape.

On Friday (November 15) Westminster Council’s licensing committee ruled that the Charing Cross nightclub should have its alcohol licence suspended for 28 days until a full hearing can take place.

It follows an incident in May when three members of the venue’s security team were filmed assaulting a customer.

“These incidents raise serious concerns about the venue’s ability to fulfil its obligation to protect its customers, in particular in relation to safeguarding,” a Met Police spokesperson said.
