A former deputy leader has returned to Enfield Council in a Labour by-election win.
Ian Barnes was elected as a ward councillor for the Jubilee ward in a by-election on Thursday (November 28) after receiving 853 votes from a turnout of 21.12%.
The Conservative Party's Mohammad Main Uddin won 691 votes while independent candidate Khalid Mohammad Khalleck Sadur came third with 208 votes.
Katherine Knight won 169 votes for the Green Party while Neville Kenneth Watson, representing Reform UK, received 149 votes and the Liberal Democrat's Timothy Andrew Martin came last with 94 votes.
Cllr Barnes was representative for Winchmore Hill and deputy leader in Enfield between 2019 and 2022, and was one of three shortlisted contenders for the Coventry East constituency ahead of July's General Election.

Following his win he posted on X: "I am delighted to be elected an Enfield councillor once again, and I want to thank the residents of Jubilee who have put their faith in me.
"On their behalf I will be fighting for fairer funding for Enfield and tackling the issues that matter to them.
"Thank you to everyone who supported me during the campaign."
The by-election was triggered when Enfield Council leader and Jubilee councillor Nesil Caliskan resigned to become a Labour MP for Barking.
