AN ENFIELD college will open its new garden of learning on Saturday, marking a partnership with Churchfield Primary School pupils from Edmonton.
Pupils at Capel Manor College, in Bullsmoor Lane, will be able to relax in the child-friendly garden, where they will learn about plants, wildlife, science and weather.
Councillor Glynis Vince, cabinet member for education, children's services and youth, said: "Pupils and students from schools across the borough will be able to visit the garden and spend time studying and observing nature."
As well as providing a relaxing green space for children from urban areas, it is designed to encourage creativity for all age groups and inspire children to take up photography and art.
The project was completed by garden design graduates, who developed the garden with help from Churchfield Primary School children.
Dr Steve Dowbiggin, chief executive of Capel Manor, said: “The garden will encourage all age groups to understand the basic principles of good gardening, sustainability and recycling and there will also be opportunities for school parties to use Capel Manor's many facilities.”
A remote weather station and bird box web were donated to the school by building consultant REAM and further assistance and support was offered by Volkerhighways and John Laing Charitable Trust.
