TWO Enfield rugby players will test their endurance off the pitch this weekend to raise money for charity.
Andy Roper and Toby Rome of the Enfield Ignatians rugby team hope to raise £4,000 for sports injury charity Regain, in the Snowdonia Challenge on Saturday,
June 13.
Starting from Llanberis, in Wales, the duo will cycle 20 miles to the foot of Mount Snowdon, before climbing the mountain.
After their descent, they will ride another 20 miles to reach Parc Padarn where they will canoe for 45 minutes and then cycle back to the starting point at Llanberis.
Firefighter Andy Roper said: “I did the Three Peaks Challenge two years ago, which entailed reaching the summit of Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike, and I know how hard these challenges can be.
Mr Roper has preparing meticulously for the upcoming challenge. He said: “My preparations are in full swing and I have been cycling regularly from my Enfield home to my work place at Leytonstone.
“I have incorporated a lot of hill cycling and have also been training in the gym. Some of the training sessions have been 37 miles long. However, I am feeling good and looking forward to the big day.”
