In the past few weeks, Enfield Council’s waste services team has been going to great lengths to tell us that our refuse collection day has changed.

We received leaflets telling us that the day would be changing, but not which day it would change to.

To find this out we were required to look at a website. Then two waste operatives walked up and down my road carefully attaching large colourful tags to our recycling bins that were awaiting collection on the pavement.

These inform us that our recycling day has changed from Wednesday to… Wednesday, which leaves me with just two questions — firstly, why did they bother mentioning it, and secondly, are they mad?
