STAFF at an Enfield bakery are bringing a new meaning to the phrase use your loaf.
Their company Warburtons Enfield, in Delta Park Industrial Estate, Millmarsh Lane, Enfield, has created a new learning centre for them, called L.O.A.F. (Learning Opens Avenues Forever).
The centre has computers with broadband donated by the Bakers Food & Allied Workers Union and is open to the bakers' 450 staff members.
The aim is to encourage bakery workers to take up further education courses online.
Workers can use the centre during lunch breaks and on days off.
LOAF was officially opened by Enfield North MP Joan Ryan.
She said: “In a rapidly changing world it is important that everyone has the opportunity to develop new skills to meet new challenges.
“I’m sure it will play an important role in enabling employees to master new skills and fulfill their individual potential. It is an example that I hope will be followed by other companies.”
Brett Warburton, an executive director of the company, said employee training and development was very important to Warburtons.
“Our employees are at the heart of our success and we are committed to helping all our workers develop their skills and achieve their full potential both in and outside the working environment.”
