CUSTOMERS and staff at Enfield's largest department store are taking a tea break next week to raise money for charity.

Pearsons in Enfield Town is laying on free tea and cakes in its restaurant, where customers can make a donation to Willow as part of the charity's Piece of Cake campaign.

A member of the charity will also be there to talk about its role providing special days out for seriously ill young adults.

The campaign, supported by Willow Foundation ambassador, chef Gary Rhodes, and sponsored by McVitie's Jamaica Ginger Cake, encourages people to throw a tea party fundraiser for the charity.

The shop has a long association with the charity, which was set up by former Arsenal goalkeeper and TV presenter, Bob Wilson, and his wife, Megs.

He said: “Every little helps, so no matter how much you raise at your tea party, you will be helping many more seriously ill young adults to enjoy a special day.

The event takes place at the store on Thursday June 25, from 9.30am to 11am.

Charity merchandise will be on sale and there will also be a raffle with prizes, including a signed Ainsley Harriot cookbook.
