TODAY is a special day for 900 of the borough's sporty children.
They will be representing their schools and also countries around the world in a mini Olympics tournament called Go Enfield Go.
In total 30 schools will each send a 30-strong team to the games and each will compete as a different country.
Just like the real Olympics, Go Enfield Go, will compete in a range of different sports, from trampolining to fencing.
As well as bidding for sporting excellence the children get the chance to learn about their adopted country.
They also get to meet four members of Team GB, who will also be presenting medals at the end of the day.
The event will be held at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre, in Picketts Lock, Meridian Way, Enfield, one of two facilities in Enfield which will be used by real Olympic athletes to train in during the London 2012 Olympics.
Cabinet member for leisure, culture and the Olympics, Cllr Jon Kaye said: “We're really lucky in Enfield to have a really world class athletics centre, you really do feel when you are there that this is the real thing.”
The borough's manager of sports development in schools, Jan Hickman, said the council wanted schools to be inspired to run their own mini Olympics in the future.
