A PARADE to support the armed forces has been arranged by the Royal British Legion.
The Armed Forces Day parade in Enfield Town on June 28 will be the borough's first.
Enfield Council's leader has urged all residents to show “gratitude and respect” for the forces by supporting the event.
Cllr Mike Rye said: "This is the first ever Armed Forces Day parade. It will be a special day for some special people who are the pride of our country.
"I urge all Enfield residents to come out and show their support and respect for the many brave men and women who defended our freedom and served our nation so loyally.
“Their dedication, professionalism and courage serving our nation and defending our freedom is inspiring and should be celebrated.”
As part of the run up to the celebrations, the council is flying a special Armed Forces Day flag which will be presented to a veteran.
The parade will start from the Royal British Legion's Enfield headquarters, in Holtwhites Hill.
It will feature a march by veterans, local scouts, cadets and Boys Brigade members through Chase Side, Windmill Hill and Church Street.
When the marchers reach Enfield market the mayor and others will take a salute before the parade continues to the Civic Centre, in Silver Street.
