CYCLISTS from all over Enfield took to the streets on Sunday in aid of the Nightingale Community Hospice Trust.

The ten mile ride through Enfield Town, which involved 150 people, is estimated to have raised around £5,000 in aid of the Hospice.

At the end of the ride, the cyclists relaxed with a picnic in the Town Park and listened to the sounds of Hazelbury Junior School Steel Pan Band.

Children also enjoyed themselves with face painting and mini inflatables.

Mary Rose, fundraising manager for Nightingale Community Hospice Trust, said: "We have been delighted with the response to this event which, as well as raising much needed funds for the hospice, has been a great day out.

"We look forward to organising similar events in the future".

Richard Reeve, of Edmonton Cycle Club which provided marshals for the event, said: "It was great to see such a turnout. Cycling has been enjoying a renaissance across London, and it seems that Enfield is no exception."

The Hospice, which was launched in 2002, helps Enfield residents whose lives have been affected by cancer.

They also provide support for family, friends and carers who are concerned about the illness.
