Two members of the Enfield Ignatian's rugby team helped raise more than £4,000 after completing the gruelling Snowdonia Charity Challenge in Wales.
Andy Roper and Toby Rome were a part of four-man team The Jackals, who endured the physical challenges of cycling 40 miles, climbing Mount Snowdon and canoeing during the event earlier this month.
The Snowdonia Charity Challenge has been running for more than seven years to raise money for Regain, a charity that helps to improve the independence of British people paralysed by injuries suffered during competitive sport.
Mr Roper said: "It proved a fantastic experience helped by the sunny conditions. The Jackals were one of 49 teams and we had the added bonus of finishing first after completing the challenge in five hours and 19 minutes.
"Our four-man team was also boosted by the presence of the Hathaway Brothers, Dave and Alan, and it was nice to know all of our hard training paid off. Our other team, the Jackals United, finished 19th overall."
Mr Roper, a firefighter, did not get long to recover from the strain of the physical challenge, as he was called into service to deal with flash-flooding in Essex only 48 hours later.
Ignatians RFC welcomes all new players. Anyone interested in joining can contact Rob Wyer on 07956 458560. The first pre-season training session takes place on July 7, at 7.30pm.
