A MAN whose rear garden gate has been blocked by flytipping for six months has been told the council is unable to pick up the rubbish straight away.
Last week the council apologised to Noel Gill, 47, of Westmore Gardens, over any “confusion” regarding the flytipping because Mr Gill was told he could be prosecuted for flytipping if he moved the rubbish onto the street for collection.
The council, which was one of the first in London to set up an enviro crime unit and prides itself on cleanliness, told Mr Gill he would have to wait two more weeks because it was dealing with a flytipping backlog.
Mr Gill said the pile of furniture and green waste was a fire hazard.
“It is unbelievable. I want to go out there and move it but if I do I will get done for flytipping.
“If there was a fire at the front of the house this is the only way you can get out.
“I would have thought they would have done it last week. It must have been there for about six months and I reported it in April.
“They said it was the best they can do. I have got to put up with it I suppose.”
