A GROUP of schoolgirls won first prize in this year's Enfield Science and Technology Challenge.
The Mayor of Enfield, Eleftherios Savva, presented the prize to the Enfield County School team at the event held in the Oasis Acedemy, Enfield, on Thursday, June 18.
The school entered two projects for this year's challenge in the Years 7 and 8 and Years 9 and 10 categories.
The winning project by Year 10 pupils Charlotte Gredal, Angela Fusco, Sarah Browne, Cathrina Lutterodt and Senel Bekhir was entitled 'Do suncreams actually work?'
The Year 7 team of Lucy Walters, Andrea Sergis, Sachini Jayasena, Pinar Ozkok and Edwyna Irving-Asphall was also highly commended for their research into ways of reducing global warming and came second.
The girls won £500 for the science department at the Holly Walk school that will pay for further science projects.
