An unusual cat, with only one eye, went missing from its home in Winchmore Hill last weekend.

Two year old Mylo is a British shorthair blue cat and was left in the care of Sheila Nahlis and her husband while their daughter was on honeymoon. The cat is believed to have escaped at around 2am through a window which was left open at their home in The Alders, Winchmore Hill, last Saturday.

He is a special breed of cats that does not venture outdoors — Mylo had never been outside up until the day he went missing.

Mylo can be easily distinguished because he is quite large cat and only has one eye. Mylo underwent enucleation, a surgical procedure to remove the eyeball from the eyesocket, at just fifteen weeks old when he was diagnosed with corneal cancer, glaucoma and a slight intraocular pressure in his left eye.

He has also been diagnosed with capsular cataract in his remaining right eye, a condition in which the lens of the eye becomes partially or completely opaque, causing impaired vision.

Mrs Nahlis, the mother of the cat's owner, said: "We are frantic with worry about Mylo as he has had such a rough start in life and now we have lost him. He is probably petrified outside especially after the storm on Saturday night."

"Our daughter will be devastated when she returns from her honeymoon on Sunday."

The cat even has his own website, mylo.moonfruit.com, where people can learn more about the breed, view pictures, read the story of his surgery and recovery and even keep up with Mylo's moods and activities through his blog.

If seen, the family ask that he is not approached, as he is very nervous and rarely goes to people. Instead, if seen, contact Sheila Nahlis on 020 8360 6728 stating when and where he was seen.
