CLAMPERS who swooped on an estate this morning insist their company is not in the wrong.

Operatives of Parking Control Management UK (PCM) insist letters telling residents of the change had been hand delivered to Gareth Drive, in Edmonton, and signs put up two weeks ago.

The letters make it clear that the new permits must be displayed from today.

They also say that all new parking permits have been delivered, despite residents' claims to the contrary.

The clampers' actions provoked both anger and tears from residents this morning when they clamped their cars en mass.

One employee, who asked not to be named, said: “It's not always like this, a lot of people do understand that we're just doing our job and we're doing what we're told to do.

“Pretty much everyone has a permit in their car now, they did have them. I've had four or five people this morning who had it in their glove box all the time.”

Another PCM employee complained that news stories about his company were always negative.

“It doesn't matter how many letters we send out, he said. It's always twisted to look like we're in the wrong.”
