Two Enfield pubs will take part in a Cycle Around the World event this Saturday to help raise money for charity.
The Stag and Hounds, in Bury Street West, Edmonton, will represent the Caribbean and the Ridgeway Tavern, in The Ridgeway, Enfield, is representing Cuba in an international-style challenge being taken on by 14 Ember Inns pubs.
Each team will collectively cycle close to 400km on a stationary bicycle placed in the pub and each pub will also host a themed night.
The Stag and Hounds will host a Caribbean calypso and The Ridgeway Tavern will host a Cuban cocktail night. Both pubs will also hold a range of fundraising activities during the parties in a bid to reach a £10,000 target.
The event will help to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, and the money will go towards funding to provide defibrillators, machines that can restart the heart when someone goes into cardiac arrest, in the greatest areas of need across London.
Manager of The Ridgeway Tavern, Lucinda Franciosi, said: "We have recently finished a really successful Drink Pink campaign for Against Breast Cancer and our guests and our team enjoyed it so much that we wanted to carry on raising money for another great cause.”
"It's going to be tough but we are looking forward to it.”
The Stag and Hounds' Caribbean day takes place all day at the pub on Saturday, July 11, where guests will have the opportunity to limbo, dance to music provided by the band and enjoy the barbeque.
The Ridgeway Tavern's Cuban cocktail event also takes place on Saturday July 11, and guests can look forward to the Cuban disco and the chance to win prizes in the special 'Around the World' raffle.
