A BABY girl has won a place in a lookalike contest as 62-year-old rocker Elton John.

Matilda Gant from Manor Road by day is a normal baby in a romper suit but undergoes what some would call a remarkable transformation when she dons a pair of large colourful plastic specs.

Now seven-month-old Miss Gant has made it through to the final the BabyTV Celebritots competition, she is rubbing shoulders with nine other thimble–sized celebrities, including a miniature Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse and Susan Boyle, the sinister creature Gollum from Lord of the Rings and A Team member Mr T.

If she wins the competition, which has been organised by Sky channel BabyTV she stands to net her parents £500 and a TV appearance.

Matilda’s mother, Lynsey, said: “We are thrilled. Someone commented one day that in her glasses she looked like Elton John, so we just had to enter her. We think she’s almost as good on the piano as the real Elton.”

Judges from BabyTV and website babyworld.co.uk will announce the winner later this month.
