A SUPPOSEDLY haunted pub will be having a family party to celebrate its centenary on July 25.
The Hop Poles, in Baker Street Enfield, is believed to be haunted by a poltergeist named George.
According to owner Phil Irwin, George, who some say is the ghost of a former employee, scared a Sky TV crew to the point where they fled, leaving their entire stock of equipment in the cellar several years ago.
However, the family party will be held in the open air in the pub garden and car park, and feature local bands from a council-run programme for aspiring musicians.
Gillian’s Riding School, based in Clay Hill, will also bring a horse or two, there will be martial arts demonstrations and two local magicians will also amaze the crowds with their tricks.
Money will be raised for Macmillans cancer support and there will be a barbecue until about 6pm.
In the evening a professional DJ will put on a soul night.
