A MAN from Edmonton has denied playing a part in the death of a shop manager who was knifed at a Matalan store in Hackney.
Roy Williams, 30, is one of seven men to appear at the Old Bailey last Friday denying the murder of Jamie Simpson, 33, who was knifed as he cashed up at the store in March last year.
The other charged men are Jammal Chambers, 18, of no fixed address, Kobina Essel, 18, of east London, Simeon Jumah, 24, of Manor Park, east London, Duane Owusu, 19, of no fixed address, and a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old, who cannot be named.
Jumah, Essel, and the youths pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob, which was denied by the other defendants.
All entered not guilty pleas to murder.
Chambers remains on bail and the others are in custody. All are due to go on trial on January 4 next year.
