A NEW “beautiful and serene oasis” for the terminally ill will be built at Barnet Hospital with the help of people who take part in a fun run later this year.
The event will be the first major fun run to be held in aid of Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals in half a decade.
The 5km run will be held in Trent Park, Enfield, on Sunday October 11 in a country and woodland environment.
All the money raised from the event will go towards the hospital trust's Enhancing the Healing Environment project, which aims to build a garden room within a courtyard at Barnet Hospital.
Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital Trust's communciations manager, Joanna Johnson, said: “This space will provide a beautiful and serene oasis within the hospital for patients suffering from a life limiting illness, where patients, relatives and staff can meet in private away from the clinical setting of their rooms or wards.”
As well as providing a peaceful place for patients to relax while at the hospital, the garden is also intended to be a private place where patients can discuss private matters or say goodbye to their loved ones.
To register your place on the run contact fundraising manager, Peter Butler, on 020 8375 1619 or peter.butler@bcf.nhs.uk.
