THE CAPITAL stands to learn of Enfield’s cultural heritage after it has been charted on a hand-drawn map.
The map shows the major venues, galleries, theatres, museums and cinemas in Enfield, Barnet and Haringey with contact details for each, and was designed by artist Sian Pattenden.
It will be distributed to every major arts and cultural venue in London, including important arts venues such as The South Bank, The Tate and West End theatres, in the hope that they put it up.
Red squares mark Enfield attractions.
The map will be unveiled at Forty Hall today by a group of performers from Art Start dressed as foxes because “they are very good at funding their way around London and finding places”, according to Enfield Council.
Cllr Jon Kaye, cabinet member for leisure and culture, said: “Now we have the school holidays and the credit crunch is biting, many people are spending the school holidays at home. The arts map gives lots of great ideas for things to do with children and families, and remember many of the activities are free.
“Everyone should make sure they get a copy of the arts map, so that they know where the best places to go are in our beautiful borough.”
