ALL of Enfield's parks have retained their Green Flag status for another year.

The six parks, Grovelands, Oakwood, Town, Forty Hall, Jubilee and Pymmes were put forward for renewal of the coveted status.

They had to convince judges they were managed and maintained to the high standards required.

Green Flag parks have to show an improvement year on year, that the park engages with the community, is well-maintained, sustainable and has respect for conservation and heritage.

The council's cabinet member for place shaping and enterprise, Cllr Michael Lavender, said: "We have invested heavily in our parks to make sure that they are the best in London.

"But our parks would not be as good as they are without the excellent Friends Groups that we have, and the huge community involvement in their development.

"I am delighted to hear that we have retained our six Green Flags."

Malcolm Sleath, acting chairman of Town Park, said much of the credit had to go to the dedicated staff.

"We know from first-hand that the park's staff work hard to maintain our park to a high standard, sometimes under difficult circumstances," he said.

"They show a great deal of personal commitment, and we try to be an appreciative audience. Their work brings pleasure to a great many people."
