I refer to good governance requiring surgeries and joined-up thinking to improve the ward (‘Talk to your councillor’, Opinion, May 27).

When will this become a reality for residents of the A406 blighted Southgate Green ward?

Bowes Ward councillors helpfully hold their surgeries regularly on Saturday mornings between 10.30am and 11.30am at Trinity-at-Bowes Methodist Church, in Palmers Green.

Labour councillors from Enfield Council hold regular weekly surgeries for residents. Councillors from Haringey and Barnet hold regular surgeries.

However, when will the Conservatives of Enfield Council hold such vital surgeries and overcome a grave democratic deficiency? In particular, when will the three Southgate Green ward councillors do their duty and do so for the A406 blighted parts of their ward?

Details of councillor and MP surgeries should also be advertised in Our Enfield magazine and in Enfield Council press notices.

Hopefully, when this happens, and joined-up thinking becomes a norm and a reality, such issues as the A406 40-year planning blight will be nearer to being urgently resolved for thousands of long-suffering residents and traders of New Southgate and Palmers Green.
