AN artist and nurse is hoping that visitors to Millfield Arts Centre will like her work enough to take it home.
Vicky King, of Durrants Road, Enfield, is holding an exhibition at the centre for the next four weeks.
As a Marie Curie cancer nurse she decided to sell her work and give part of the proceeds, 35 or 40 per cent, to the charity she works for.
The keen ameteur artist said she was persuaded to run exhibitions by friends eight years ago.
“Everyone said to me why don't you show your work instead of just giving it to friends. So I did, the last time I did an exhibition I got £300 or £400 for Marie Curie so I hope I can beat that this time.”
Mrs King, 65, looks after cancer patients who are coming to end of their lives, but want to be looked after at home, something she moved into after being a district nurse for 35 years.
She has done a lot of painting over the past year while recovering from leg surgery but hopes to return to work soon.
The exhibition is open at the same times as the centre – Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm and at times an event is on.
